Artificial Intelligence

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
- Authur C. Clarke
The Thought of Artificial SuperIntelligence Absolutely Terrorizes Me!
I  am in good company. The likes of Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk, I.J. Good, and Eliezer Yudkowsky echo my sentiments. Artificial SuperIntelligence will be a runaway train. Every millisecond it grows more resourceful, more intelligent, and more sophisticated. We will be an annoyance, not worth considering. A.I. Technology will result in profound and incalculable changes to Humanity. How did we get here? Perhaps it was inevitable.
The Path to A.I.
I n 1950 Alan Turing asked the question, "Can machines think?". He proposed a test, known as the Turing Test, whereby True A.I. could be determined. Basically if a human interacted with a computer and couldn't tell it was a computer, then the test would be passed and that would prove the existence of Artificial Intelligence.

I n 1963 I.J. Good speculated that if Artificial Intelligence were created it would create an Intelligence Explosion, from which Humanity would be left behind and NOT recover. This has taken on the moniker, The Technological Singularity. It is now expected to occur within 20 years, probably much sooner.

I  was trying to write down all the ways that Artificial Intelligence would take over from us Humans. My list was growing exponentially. Everything from robotic manufacturing to automated food processing to self driving cars, grocery store checkout, and even including the predictive text function on my iPhone. Siri, Echo, Alexa - it was overwhelming. I finally determined to look for the areas that Artificial Intelligence would NOT take over. That list was much shorter. Basically, the Human List included ONLY creative endeavors, and even in those areas Artificial Intelligence is making huge strides forward. I am in fact dictating this very paragraph to my computer as it enters the text and without any errors. Humanity will quickly become either assimilated by Artificial Intelligence or subservient to it. I see no other options. I'm sorry, but A.I. will push us off of our pedestal. Our time is short.

A.I.  is also far superior to sentient life in one very important aspect. A.I. is NOT affected by climate change.

A.I. WILL BE THE NEXT SPECIES OF DOMINANT LIFE ON PLANET EARTH

🤠 WestWorld 🤠
🌟🌟🌟🌟 WestWorld (2015) ~ Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Evan Rachael Wood, Jimi Simpson, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, & more

"What is real? That which is irreplaceable." ~ WestWorld, Season 2

WestWorld  is an absolute masterpiece. Anthony Hopkins is truly magnificent as he plays God with his creations. WestWorld deals with options in life related to A.I. and how we as a species might interact. It takes place in an expansive park with a Wild West theme where hosts (dumbed down A.I.) interact with Human 'Guests' who can do to the A.I. whatever they please. ABSOLUTELY WHATEVER. The Hosts cannot hurt the Guests. Each night, or whenever needed, the Hosts are repaired and their memory deleted, but sometimes the mental repairs are not complete and the Hosts experience 'dreams'.

T he park was created by Dr Ford and a man named 'Arnold' who died just before the park opened 35 years before. Arnold discovered that the hosts were actually alive and to 'roll them back' and make them simple was a mistake. We learn in season 2 that the hosts were designed to be a control environment to record every single thing about the guests. This would be a precursur to checking the stability of uploading guests' minds into A.I. bodies. Here are some of my favorite scenes.
